Fathom by Campfire Audio is an earphone made for audiophiles. Six custom-made balanced armatures deliver a detailed presentation with just the right touch of mid-band warmth that elevates vocal performance and offers a glowing musical experience.  

Fathom is encased in a machined aluminum body anodized in a sleek, black, bright-dip.  The Rainbow PVD fasteners cast a vibrant spectrum of light against the deep black of the anodized shell, creating a striking contrast that is both visually captivating and elegantly understated.

Fathom is meticulously designed and assembled in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Experience the culmination of nearly a decade of experience in the tuning and refinement of an all-balanced armature IEM. Fathom takes the long legacy of Campfire’s world-class precision and technical performance to its peak with our new six-B.A. internal architecture. 

Utilizing a new dual mid-driver assembly, Fathom creates astounding richness, texture, and elevation to vocal performance, sharing every emotive detail from the artist to the listener. Paired with custom dual low and high balanced armature, Fathom offers top-to-bottom precision, detail, and resolution. 

The goal of Fathom’s design is to provide a sound that is true to the original recording, allowing you to hear your music with clarity and depth. By focusing on the accuracy and detail of each note, from the lowest bass to the highest treble, we aim to bring you closer to the music you love. This precision and detail oriented sonic approach is mirrored externally by Fathom’s sleek, ergonomic machined aluminum housing. A re-engineering of our classic faceted aluminum housing, this shell offers incredible ergonomics, resilience, and style. Fathom’s sleek, black bright-dip anodizing is contrasted with its rainbow PVD fastener rings and MMCX capture, giving it a touch of bold excitement.

New Six-Balanced Armature Architecture

Fathom is equipped with six custom-made balanced armature drivers, each designed with a specific role in mind to enhance your listening experience. The configuration includes dual custom high-definition super tweeters for crisp, clear highs; a pair of custom mid-range drivers for accurate vocal and instrument reproduction; and dual custom BA woofers for rich, balanced bass. This setup is meticulously engineered to deliver precise sound reproduction across the entire frequency range.

 

 

Phase Harmony Engineering

At Campfire Audio, our philosophy regarding driver treatment informs a considered approach that emphasizes quality over quantity. In the arms-race to fit a higher and higher number of drivers into an earphone, we find that a results-driven technique to driver treatment produces superior results with less room for pitfalls and ever-expanding variables that can undermine product consistency. 

One of the products of this approach is our Phase Harmony Engineering, that allows us to segment the frequency spectrum and assign these segments to specific drivers, and allows those drivers to apply their strengths to that area. But it doesn’t end there, using a combination of precision engineered driver housings and shell geometry, coupled with custom damping values we are able to physically shape the tuning and response of the drivers, and further, their interaction with one another. This driver-to-driver interaction is crucial to eliminating points of potential phase cancellation and creating the intangibles that don’t show on a frequency response curve; imaging, separation, resolution, and soundstage.

Tuned With Intention

This curve displays relative volume levels at each point across the frequency spectrum, reflecting Fathom's careful balance and refinement in tuning. Though FR curves are a great general guide, they can't convey technicalities like soundstage, imaging, layering, etc.
